Student Services Representative

Job Purpose:

The Student Services Department provides support to Embassy English students with their booking, housing, visa and social activities arrangements while studying at Embassy.  The Academics Department assists students with classes, lessons, and progress. The purpose of this Student Services and Academic Representative is to provide students with the support they need both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior customer service to students
  • Ensure accuracy of booking changes in database and collection of fees
  • Ensure completeness of student documents, including visas
  • Manage activities program, including scheduling, promotion and sales
  • Plan and host monthly events at the center
  • Provide information about the school to prospective students and agent partners 
  • Promote additional sales to current students
  • Other tasks and assignments as required
  • Assist with Embassy English social media administration
  • Manage student accommodations in New Yorker residency and host families
  • Interview potential students for English in Action program and assist in placements
  • Occasionally fill in as a substitute teacher (ESL) on an as-needed basis

Selection Criteria: 

Qualifications & Training: 

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • CELTA, TEFL, or TESOL certification with practical training

Experience Required:

  • 1 year administrative and customer service experience (academic setting preferred)
  • At least one year of ESL classroom teaching experience teaching teenagers and/or adults

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience using and updating databases
  • Fluent in Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Dedicated to providing superior customer service
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Able to offer drive, creativity, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in sensitive situations
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work with ambiguity
  • Friendly demeanor
  • Knowledge of a foreign language preferred
  • Study abroad experience preferred
